Men´s mamal glands do not usually develop. However it is normal their increase during puberty due to the hormonal storm that takes place. Yet, they can become larger some times due to abnormal hormonal alterations or obesity causing disconfort and an evident aesthetic alteration with its psychological affection.
The tecnique for correction of this is done through a small incision in the aureola where the skin has a darker hue. The excess of fat deposit is then removed by liposuction and when necessary the mammary tissue is scalpel removed. The stitches are performed with mononylon material to reduce the signs of surgical incision. Local anesthesia is used even though the patient is under close monitored sedation. Time of permanence in the hospital is only for the day of surgery.
During the first 30 days the patient should wear a elastic pressure bandage around the chest. A lymphatic drainage is highly recomended in this type of postoperatory. The patient should return to work within few days of the surgery depending of the labored activity done with his arms.
